The NZ law jobs ‘sweet spot’
New Zealand’s legal jobs market is showing renewed confidence and many of the best opportunities are no longer limited to Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch.
Legal demand grew 5.6% during 2025, according to Thomson Reuters’ latest New Zealand legal-market report, with transactional work rebounding and counter-cyclical practices continuing to generate work.
That is creating opportunities for lawyers with strong technical capability, commercial judgement and the ability to build genuine client relationships.
