Steven Dawson, St. Louis
Steven Dawson, formerly an associate at the firm, practices in the areas of estate and business succession planning and post-death estate and trust administration. Dawson, age 36, assists clients in pre-death planning by structuring estate plans and revocable and irrevocable trusts, drafting wills and establishing powers of attorney. He also assists clients with administration of decedents’ trusts and probate estates, including estate and income tax returns.
He received his J.D., cum laude, in 1997 and his B.A., magna cum laude, in 1994 from Saint Louis University.
Donna Marchand, St. Louis
Donna Marchand’s practice focuses on transactional and regulatory matters in the health care industry. Marchand, age 34, has represented clients in a variety of matters, including mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, corporate governance issues and operational contracts. She regularly advises clients regarding anti-kickback and physician self-referral laws, state health care licensure requirements and Medicare and Medicaid enrollment and billing rules. Formerly an associate at the firm, Marchand’s clients include national home infusion providers, physician groups and academic medical centers.
Marchand received her J.D. in 1999 from Saint Louis University and her B.S. in 1996 from the University of Notre Dame.
Melissa Rawlins, Santa Monica
Melissa Rawlins, formerly an associate at the firm, practices in the private client and tax areas. Rawlins’ practice focuses primarily on planning for multinational families, including structuring estate and business succession plans for high net worth individuals and members of their families, the preparation of wills, complex trusts and irrevocable insurance trusts. She also advises clients on charitable planning, including the creation of charitable foundations, and on probate and trust administration matters.
Her tax practice includes general domestic and international planning for corporations, partnerships, limited liability companies and S corporations, as well as individual tax advice with regard to foreign investments, U.S. tax planning for non-resident aliens who are making gifts to U.S. residents and individuals contemplating expatriation. Rawlins, age 32, also advises clients on California property, sales and use tax issues.
She received her LL.M in 2001 from New York University, her J.D., cum laude, Order of the Coif, in 2000 from Loyola Law School-Los Angeles and her B.A. in 1997 from the University of Southern California.
