CHICAGO, May 15, 2004 – LAWFUEL — Goldberg Kohn is pleased to announce the formation of two Goldberg Kohn Summer Fellow positions at the University of Michigan Law School’s Child Welfare Law Summer Fellowship Program. These Fellowship positions, made possible through a $5,000 donation from Goldberg Kohn and a matching grant from the Bergstrom Foundation, will provide an opportunity for law students to spend the summer working for a child legal advocacy program. Each fellow will receive a fellowship stipend and the opportunity to receive training from the Law School’s faculty and external child legal advocacy experts in a classroom setting, in addition to their hands-on experience in a public service venue throughout the summer.
The University of Michigan Law School, founded in 1859, has become the nation’s premiere school in the area of child welfare law and practice. The Child Advocacy Law Clinic, established in 1976, is the nation’s oldest clinical law program focused on child abuse and neglect. The Child Welfare Law Summer Fellowship Program began in 1994 and in 1997 the Bergstrom Foundation endowed the training component of the program.
