Top lawyers from four jurisdictions make world top-ranking list

Lawyers who made the “Law Star” list for 2004 have been named by online publisher, LawFuel.

Among the 15 nominees announced by the law news website are New York Attorney General Eliot Spitzer and sacked Michael Jackson attorney Mark Geragos.

The LawFuel list of legal stars is based on votes from the website’s legal audience of over 55,000 lawyers worldwide and collected over the past three months. The top nominees are now to be voted for to choose the LawStar for 2004.

“We received a wide range of lawyers nominated for the award,” said LawFuel publisher John Bowie. “But ultimately the decision as to the LawStar will be made by our readers. Voting is now open, as the saying goes.”

LawFuel supplies legal news and research for lawyers around the world and provides a news service for law firms.

The nominees include two women, Nobel Prize winner Shirin Ebadi from Iran and Houston prosecutor Kelly Siegler. The nominees are selected for their contribution to law during 2003 and include both commercial and litigation lawyers from four jurisdictions. Included in the nominees are aspiring Australian politician and banker, Malcolm Turnbull, New York mergers and acquisitions legend Marty Lipton, Britain’s most expensive barrister, Lord Grabiner QC and Boston drug doctor prosecutor Michael Sullivan.
