PHOENIX (LAWFUEL) – Stephen Paul Babb, 22, of Yuma, Ariz., was sentenced yesterday by U.S. District Judge Neil V. Wake to five years in federal prison. Babb pleaded guilty on July 22, 2008, to one count of Possession of Child Pornography.
Throughout 2007 while Babb resided in Yuma, he exchanged in excess of 1800 child pornography images with an Internet user from another state. Babb and the other individual had chat discussions regarding these images and their desire to molest children. During a search warrant executed at his residence, law enforcement officials seized Babb’s computer and found over 3000 additional images of child pornography. The images Babb possessed and exchanged portrayed children involved in sexually explicit conduct with adults. Some of the images included infants along with several images portraying bondage and bestiality.
The investigation in this case was conducted by U.S. Immigrations and Customs Enforcement in Yuma. The prosecution was handled by Dimitra Sampson, Assistant U.S. Attorney, District of Arizona, Phoenix.
