New York, NY (January 4, 2005) – LAWFUEL – Best for law news – International law firm Debevoise & Plimpton LLP is pleased to announce that Patrick Laporte, a leading mergers & acquisitions lawyer in France, has joined the firm as a partner, resident in its Paris office. Also joining Debevoise’s Paris office with Mr. Laporte is Severine Canarelli as International Counsel. Additionally, Jean-Christophe Beaury, resident in the firm’s Paris office, has become International Counsel.
“We are delighted to have an M&A lawyer of Patrick’s stature join us,” said James Kiernan, Managing Partner of Debevoise’s European offices. “He brings a tremendous depth of experience as a French and cross-border lawyer. The additions of Patrick and Severine, and the promotion of Jean-Christophe, are key steps in the ongoing expansion of our mergers and acquisitions practice in France, as well as throughout Europe. Their expertise will be invaluable to our many clients and fits seamlessly with our Paris office’s practice, particularly following the arrival three months ago of Noelle Lenoir, a former French Minister for European Affairs and member of France’s Conseil Constitutionnel. These arrivals significantly expand the range and breadth of services we can offer our clients in major cross-border transactions.”
Mr. Laporte said, “I am excited about the opportunity to join Debevoise, a firm with a stellar international reputation and a culture of collegiality and respect among the partners. This is an environment in which my practice can truly thrive, and I am looking forward to contributing to the development of Debevoise’s international M&A practice.”
Mr. Laporte is recognized as one of the leading M&A lawyers in France. Prior to joining Debevoise, Mr. Laporte was at Linklaters’ Paris office, where he had been a partner since 1997. Mr. Laporte’s practice focuses on mergers and acquisitions, representing corporate buyers and sellers in a wide variety of strategic transactions.
