Cravath Represents Warner Music Group in Landmark Decision

28 January 2005 – LAWFUEL – The Law News Network – On Tuesday, January 25, 2005, the Appellate Division, First Department of the Supreme Court, New York County, affirmed a trial court ruling in favor of the Warner Music Group and other major record companies that recording contracts executed prior to the advent of the Internet were sufficiently broad to convey to the record companies rights to distribute the records over the Internet. The case is the first New York State appellate pronouncement on the issue and the ruling could apply to thousands of recording contracts.
