Renowned Insurance Specialist, Herbert Palmberger, Joins DLA Piper
Germany – 3 February 2005 – LAWFUEL – The Law News Network – DLA Piper Rudnick Gray Cary (“DLA Piper”) has substantially boosted its insurance capabilities with the appointment of highly regarded insurance practitioner, Dr Herbert Palmberger. Herbert Palmberger, formerly counsel at Clifford Chance’s Düsseldorf office, will be based at DLA Piper’s Cologne office.
Herbert Palmberger spent the first two decades of his career in legal and management positions at Hannover Re, DKV and CHUBB, all insurance and reinsurance companies. Prior to joining DLA Piper, Herbert was head of the German insurance practice at Clifford Chance. He spent six years in this previous role and successfully established his team as one of Germany’s leading insurance practices.
Herbert’s expertise includes all aspects of law relevant to the insurance and reinsurance industry, including regulatory, product-oriented and corporate advice. His practice also consists of acting on some of Germany’s largest insurance-related legal disputes. Most recently, Herbert has been particularly active in D&O cases. Herbert Palmberger is expected to officially join DLA Piper in on 1 May 2005 and will work closely with the global corporate and litigation groups.
Having established its German practice in September 2004, DLA Piper has successfully attracted high-calibre lateral hires in a number of areas. In just six months Ulrich Jüngst, managing partner of the German office, has established capability in corporate, employment, technology, media and telecommunication, PPP, real estate, commercial and litigation.
