Mr. Braxton, a former municipal judge, spent 14 years of his legal career as the director of the professional liability division at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center. As such, he represented over 900 physicians throughout West Texas and managed their self-insurance fund for medical negligence claims and lawsuits.
Mr. Braxton is also a former adjunct instructor of medical jurisprudence, health law and medical malpractice at the Texas Tech University School of Law, where he received his law degree in 1986. He holds an undergraduate degree in biology and is a retired Lt. Colonel Major from the United States Army Reserve. He is admitted to practice in Texas and is a member of the Defense Research Institute and the American Society of Law and Medicine.
Ms. Poe is a registered nurse and holds a Masters of Science in nursing. After serving as the nurse manager for St. Luke’s Episcopal Hospital/Texas Children’s Hospital Emergency Center in Houston, she attended law school at The University of Texas at Austin, where she earned her law degree in 1987. Her nursing background has given her insiders knowledge to benefit her health law and medical negligence litigation practice over the past 16 years.
Ms. Poe is a former associate general counsel in the professional liability division of the Texas Tech Health Sciences Center. She is also an avid educator, having held adjunct positions at The University of Texas Health Sciences Center at Houston School of Nursing, the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center School of Nursing, the Texas Tech University School of Medicine, the Texas Tech University School of Law, and Baylor College of Medicine. She also is a frequent lecturer at medical-legal conferences.
