25 March 2005 – LAWFUEL – The Law News Network – Chadbourne & Parke LLP is representing Gulf Coast LNG Partners, L.P. in connection with the commercial and financing arrangements for a proposed LNG facility on the Texas Gulf Coast.
Gulf Coast LNG Partners announced on March 21 that it filed a Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) application on March 18 seeking permission to site, construct and operate an LNG marine receiving terminal, which will be located at The Port of Port Lavaca – Point Comfort, Calhoun County, Texas.
To be located on the Gulf Coast, about 100 miles from Houston, the Calhoun LNG receiving terminal will include two 160,000 cubic meter storage tanks as well as 1.0 Bcf per day of natural gas vaporization and natural gas liquid separation capacity. Concurrently Point Comfort Pipeline Company, L.P. is seeking authorization under NGA Section 3(a) to construct and operate an associated 12.01 mile long 30 inch diameter pipeline connecting the terminal to the local markets and to the major intrastate pipelines in Texas.
Working on the commercial arrangements necessary for Gulf Coast LNG Partners to obtain project financing are Chadbourne Houston office counsel Daniel Rogers and associate Jonathan Phillips.
The project has strong support from the local community, the State of Texas, and numerous large end-user customer markets throughout the State.
