LONDON, May 18, 2005- LAWFUEL – The Law News Network -Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe LLP announced today that Alastair Gorrie has joined the firm’s London office as a partner in its corporate practice group.
Gorrie, a former partner at Coudert Brothers in London, focuses on EU and UK competition law and EU single-market law. With 10 years’ experience in Brussels prior to developing the Coudert competition law practice in London, Gorrie has developed a reputation as a leader in the field and has worked on high-profile cases in both the UK and Europe. Gorrie and George Yates, another former Coudert Brothers partner, who joined Orrick’s Paris office on May 2, also focus on the consumer products industry.

The addition of Gorrie is part of a firmwide initiative to expand Orrick’s corporate practice. In February and March of this year, the firm added nine corporate partners in Silicon Valley from Heller Ehrman’s Venture Law Group. Over the last year, Orrick has added prominent corporate lawyers in London, Paris, New York, and San Francisco, as well as Tokyo, where eight new corporate lawyers increased that office’s team by more than 40 percent.
