HOUSTON – 30 June – LAWFUEL – The Law News Network – Four Gardere Wynne Sewell LLP attorneys have been named among Houston’s Top Lawyers by H Texas magazine. Michael A. Abbott, Jeffrey S. Davis, Thomas A. Hagemann and Lawrence J. Pirtle, partners in Gardere’s Houston office, were recognized in the publication’s 2005 survey.

Michael Abbott primarily practices in the areas of employee benefits, including ESOPs and executive compensation, as well as general tax and estate planning. A frequent author on employee compensation issues, he’s a member of the National Center for Employee Ownership and the Employee Stock Ownership Plan Association.
Jeffrey Davis is a trial attorney who represents a wide variety of clients across Texas in general personal injury, wrongful death, premises liability and products liability matters. He has earned the highest rating available by the National Law Directory and is a board member of the University of Houston Law Alumni Association.
Thomas Hagemann, with 20 years experience as a trial lawyer, spearheads the firm’s white-collar criminal defense capacity in Houston and Dallas. A Yale Law School graduate, is past chair of Main Street Theater in Houston and was one of eight Texas attorneys listed in the 2003 International Who’s Who of Business Crime Lawyers.
Lawrence Pirtle concentrates his practice in the areas of federal and state taxation; tax and estate planning; wills and trusts; probate, estate and trust administration; tax-exempt organizations; business entity formation and property and family wealth management and transfers. He is a director and past president of the University of Houston Law Foundation and a director and past chair of the Houston Law Review.
