CHICAGO (June 9, 2009) – McDermott Will & Emery LLP today announced that John Kocoras has joined the Firm as partner in the Chicago office. As a member of the Firm’s Trial Department, Mr. Kocoras will focus on internal investigations and white-collar criminal defense issues, including Foreign Corrupt Practices Act matters.
“John is a great trial lawyer, with extensive experience in investigations and compliance counseling. Mr. Kocoras comes to McDermott Will & Emery from international risk consultancy company Kroll, where he served as a Managing Director and Regional Counsel. While there, he managed corporate internal investigations and directed multidisciplined teams on a number of matters, including Foreign Corrupt Practices Act concerns. Prior to Kroll, Mr. Kocoras was an Assistant U.S. Attorney in the Criminal Division of the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Chicago for more than five years. His other professional experience includes serving as an Investigative Counsel to the Judiciary Committee of the United States House of Representatives in its impeachment investigation of President Clinton, and serving as an associate in the litigation department at Winston & Strawn LLP.
Mr. Kocoras has won awards for his investigative work from the President’s Council on Integrity and Efficiency, the National Healthcare Anti-Fraud Association, the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services, and others. He received his J.D. from Loyola University Chicago School of Law and his B.A. from University of Illinois.
