USA Snatch Walker Cup

The US has kept their Walker Cup title over Great Britain and Ireland. They won with a 16.5 to 9.5 at the Merion Golf Club in Pennsylvania.

The US have a had a huge winning streak recently as they have now won the last three events and seales victory with seven of the 10 singles matches still to play.

Peter Uihlein was star of the tournament and was the player to get the US the cup. He won with a 3&1 against Stiggy Hodgson. On the second day the US was leading 8-4 and took the title easily.

They continued that momentum into Sunday’s play, winning three of the four Foursome contests to put themselves on the brink of victory.

The States needed two points and saw Scotland’s Gavin Dear delay the inevitable by beating Brian Harman 3&2 in the lead off match.

However Rickie Fowler won 2&1 against Mat Haines which got the US back to their original lead. The rest of the singles matches were no longer relevant with Brendan Gielow winning the final match against Dale Whitnell.
