NEW YORK (December 15, 2009) – LawFuel.com – ALM Legal Intelligence, a leading source of business intelligence for the legal profession, today announced the release of its first survey of bankruptcy billing rates for partners, associates and paralegals. The survey provides court- reported data for 13,000 bankruptcy entries for the period August 2008 through August 2009, for the Southern District of New York and Delaware courts. For further information, or to purchase a copy of the survey, visit www.almlegalintelligence.com.
The survey data were culled exclusively from court documents submitted to the nation’s two busiest bankruptcy courts —the Southern District of NY and Delaware—by firms seeking compensation for legal work done in Chapter 11 cases. In addition to attested billing rates, the available data includes home office locations, practice areas, years practiced, date of law degrees for most of the attorneys listed, as well as case numbers.
“Based on the unprecedented number of bankruptcies in the past year, we were able to take an in-depth look at the range of hourly billing rates across these courts,” said Kevin Iredell, vice president, ALM Legal Intelligence. “This information is extremely valuable as firms look to benchmark their rates as well as for firms who want to provide justification to both clients and the judiciary for the rates they charge.”
