2005 Legal Interns Recipients Return from 9-week Stay in Guyana
ATLANTA (September 13) — Kilpatrick Stockton announced today that three
UGA Law School students participating in a unique internship program
just completed their nine-week stay in the South American country of
Guyana. Jeffrey H. Gibson, Lafayette, Georgia, Daniel M. Ludlam, Marietta, Georgia
and Jonathan L. Sharpley, DeSoto, Texas spent their summer working with the
Ministry of Legal Affairs and the Guyana Attorney General in the capital
city of Georgetown, Guyana.
Kilpatrick Stockton funds internships for three rising second-year law students so they can work as legal advocates assisting on important cases and solving major issues for a
wide variety of cases under the guidance of the Guyana Ministry of Legal Affairs.

of their legal career, an international perspective on problem-solving.

their experience in Guyana has been overwhelming.”
This is the third year Kilpatrick Stockton has sponsored the internship
program with eight students having participated. Over 40 students vied
for the opportunity to participate in this summer’s program. The firm is
committed to funding the program through 2009.
“This internship program afforded me the opportunity to work on legal
issues I would have never been exposed to in a typical summer
clerkship,” stated Jeff Gibson, an internship recipient this summer.
“How many law school students can say they spent part of
their summer working on a treaty between Brazil and Guyana? The legal
experience I gained, in addition to the cultural aspects of my trip,
will benefit me in my future career in law.”
