PANEL TO EXAMINE PROGRESS OF 7TH CIRCUIT ELECTRONIC DISCOVERY PILOT PROGRAM AT LEGALTECH WEST COAST 2010 CONFERENCE

NEW YORK (June 3, 2010) – LawFuel.com – A panel including Hon. David J. Waxse, U.S. District Court, District of Kansas will discuss the progress of the 7th Circuit Electronic Discovery Pilot Program on June 23 at ALM’s upcoming LegalTech West Coast 2010. The Pilot Program was formed in May 2009 to reduce the burden and cost of electronic discovery in litigation pending in the federal district courts of Illinois, Indiana and Wisconsin. LegalTech West Coast 2010, the region’s largest and most prestigious legal technology conference and trade show, will take place June 23-24 at the Los Angeles Convention Center. Complete conference information is available at www.legaltechshow.com.

The session will feature a presentation from members of the Pilot Program committee on findings from Phase One of the project and objectives for Phase Two. The panel will discuss the results of a just-completed survey and emerging electronic discovery issues likely to be addressed in Phase Two, including search, the impact of emerging technologies and other changing aspects of the electronic discovery landscape.

In addition to Judge Waxse, speakers will include Steven W. Teppler, partner, Edelson McGuire LLC and co-chair, Communications and Outreach Subcommittee, Seventh Circuit Electronic Discovery Committee and Thomas A. Lidbury, partner, Mayer Brown. Scott A. Carlson, chair, National eDiscovery Practice Group, Seyfarth Shaw LLP will moderate the session.

“Obviously, it’s important to contain cost and make electronic discovery manageable,” said Teppler. “But another important committee objective is to provide a uniform, sustainable, manageable, and scalable ESI discovery framework that can be used by any court system from any jurisdiction in the United States.”

This session is eligible for up to 1.5 CLE credits and will take place in the exhibit hall on June 23 from 12:15 – 1:30 PM.

LegalTech West Coast 2009 attracted 3000 attendees and featured more than 100 exhibiting companies. For a conference agenda, exhibitor list and other details, visit www.legaltechshow.com.
