(November 21, 2005, New York, NY) – LAWFUEL – The Law News Network – Steptoe & Johnson LLP has announced that Michael Rips has joined the Litigation and Appellate Practice Groups as special counsel. He is resident in the firm’s New York City office, effective immediately. He graduated from Princeton University in 1976 and the George Washington School of Law in 1982. Following law school, Mr. Rips clerked on the Fifth Circuit for Hon. Henry Politz and for Mr. Justice Brennan during the 1984-85 term.
Thereafter Mr. Rips practiced at Grand and Ostrow, Wright Manning Rips & Maloney and Skadden Arps, focusing on appellate and trial litigation in a variety of areas including intellectual property, securities and criminal law. Over the past several years Mr. Rips has been advising Senator Bob Kerrey in his efforts to establish a law school at the New School, as well as individuals and institutions on issues affecting the arts.
