Personal Injury and Family Law Attorney Appointed Judge

LawFuel.com – The Houston Chronical reports that Sylvia LaMar a Santa Fe personal injury and family law attorney has been appointed as a judge in the 1st Judicial District.

Ms LaMar will fill a vacancy created when District Judge Michael Vigil retired in September.

Martinez announced her choice Friday after considering three candidates recommended by an Independent nominating commission. All were lawyers in Santa Fe.

LaMar operates a private practice and has more than 20 years’ experience in family law. She’s a graduate of Alfred University in New York and received her law degree from American University’s Washington College of Law in Washington, D.C.

Vigil made news when he won a $1 million prize in the multi-state Powerball game the day after he retired.

The 1st Judicial District covers Santa Fe, Rio Arriba and Los Alamos counties.
