Warsaw, 8 January – LAWFUEL – The Law News Network – Baker & McKenzie has announced that Miroslaw Barszcz, a partner in the Warsaw office, has accepted an invitation to join the Government of Poland as a Vice Minister of Finance. Mr Barszcz will take up his role with immediate affect.
Mirosław Barszcz graduated from the Faculty of Law and Administration at the Catholic University of Lublin in 1994. He spent nine years as a VAT specialist at international tax consultancy firms from among the Big Four – in PricewaterhouseCoopers (2002-2004) before joining Baker & McKenzie as a partner in the Firm’s tax practice in 2005.
During his time at Baker & McKenzie, Mirosław Barszcz provided tax advice to clients across the service and manufacturing sectors and for national and local government in Poland. He worked on some of the largest real estate transactions in Central Europe and has been a tax advisor of choice to five of the largest IT companies in Poland. Mr Barszcz also played a key role in coordinating and ensuring tax compliance for businesses in the Polish telecommunications, banking and manufacturing sectors in the lead up to and post EU accession.
