WASHINGTON, DC – LAWFUEL – The Law News Network – January 26, 2006 Ober|Kaler principal Leon Rodriguez has been appointed to serve a three-year term with the Board of Directors of the Primary Care Coalition of Montgomery County. He will work to further the Coalition’s mission to provide access to high quality primary and specialty care services to Montgomery County’s uninsured and underserved population.
Founded in 1993, the Primary Care Coalition administers health care programs including Montgomery Cares, a county funded program to provide financial support to community clinics serving low-income, uninsured residents of Montgomery County; Care for Kids, a community partnership that provides access to preventive health care services for uninsured children; and the Center for Medicine Access, which provides access to prescription medications for low-income uninsured residents of Montgomery County.
A spokesperson for Hispanics for a Fair Judiciary, Mr. Rodriguez was selected for the Coalition appointment for his health care background and his involvement in the local community. Mr. Rodriguez serves on the board of the Hispanic Bar Association of DC Foundation and was appointed to the board of directors of CASA de Maryland earlier this year.
“The Coalition has built a network of health care providers offering primary care and specialty services to a diverse community of 20,000 low-income uninsured adults and children. I am grateful for the opportunity to further the Coalition’s good work and look forward to improving the health care options of all of Montgomery County’s low-income population,” commented Mr. Rodriguez.
Mr. Rodriguez, 43, a former prosecutor, is a member of Ober|Kaler’s White Collar Criminal Defense Group. He defends health care providers and agencies against fraud and abuse claims and other white collar crime allegations.
Mr. Rodriguez is a graduate of Brown University (B.A., 1984) and Boston College Law School (J.D., 1988). He is a member of the American, District of Columbia, and Hispanic National Bar Associations, the American Health Lawyers Association, and the Virginia Health Care Association.
