ATLANTA, Feb. 15 – LAWFUEL – The Law News Network — Powell Goldstein LLP announces that Jack Williams, formerly a partner with King & Spalding LLP, has joined its Products Liability, Personal Injury and Environmental Practice Group as a partner in
 the firm’s Atlanta office.
Mr. Williams began his career at King & Spalding in 1989, primarily
defending companies in products liability suits. In 1995, he joined the U.S.
Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Georgia. As a federal
prosecutor, he directed the investigations and obtained convictions in cases
involving bank fraud and robbery, counterfeiting, money laundering, securities

focused on class actions, mass torts and trial practice. He served as trial
 counsel for a co-defendant in a multi-billion dollar, multi-phase, Louisiana
medical monitoring class-action in which, after a six-month trial, the jury
found for defendants on the medical monitoring claims. He defended
AmericasMart Real Estate, LLC in a Superior Court of Fulton County trial in
which the jury returned a verdict on AmericasMart’s behalf. He also
represented Citizens Trust Bank and other companies embroiled in personal
 injury and contract disputes.
“We are excited to welcome Jack to the firm. Not only will he strengthen
our products liability practice, his experience in the U.S. Attorney’s office
will add to our white collar crime and special investigations practice,” said
Powell Goldstein Chairman James J. McAlpin, Jr. “Jack, in our view, has
significant potential in terms of business generation and we believe he will
 thrive at Powell Goldstein.”
In 2003, Governor Perdue appointed Mr. Williams to a seat on the five-

disclosure and reporting requirements under the Ethics in Government Act.
Mr. Williams earned a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Michigan
Law School and an M.B.A. degree with a concentration in accounting and
taxation from Cleveland State University. He also earned a Bachelor’s degree
in Business Administration from Bowling Green State University in Ohio.
Before practicing law, Mr. Williams had a seven-year professional football
career with the NFL’s then-St. Louis Cardinals and the CFL’s Ottawa
 RoughRiders and Edmonton Eskimos.
