DALLAS ― LAWFUEL – The Law News Network – Former U.S. Attorney and longtime Dallas criminal defense lawyer James A. Rolfe has joined the firm of Fitzpatrick Hagood Smith & Uhl.

Fitzpatrick Hagood Smith & Uhl is a full-service firm, which represents defendants in state and federal white-collar criminal cases and other high-profile legal matters.

“I feel very much at home here,” Mr. Rolfe says. “I’m working with people whom I’ve known and respected for many years and I’m doing the kind of work I enjoy doing.”

Mr. Rolfe was U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Texas from 1981 until 1985. Prior to that, he served as an Assistant U.S. Attorney, where he was named Chief of the Criminal Division for the Northern District. Mr. Rolfe also is a former Dallas County Assistant District Attorney, and former Assistant City Attorney for the City of Dallas.

During more than 35 years in the legal profession, Mr. Rolfe has compiled an extensive track record in numerous high-profile criminal cases. Since 1985, he has defended clients in a variety of criminal cases, including many in noteworthy trials covered by local and national media. He is a proud graduate of the University of Texas School of Law in Austin, where he earned his law degree in 1968. Previous to that, Mr. Rolfe earned his undergraduate degree from Austin College in Sherman, Texas.

Fitzpatrick Hagood Smith & Uhl was formed in the fall of 2004. Each of the name partners has previously worked as a prosecutor:

· Knox Fitzpatrick: State experience as former General Counsel to the Governor of Texas, and Supervising Chief Felony Prosecutor under legendary Dallas District Attorney Henry Wade.

· Dan Hagood: State experience as former Supervising Chief Felony Prosecutor in the Dallas County District Attorney’s Office.

· Robert R. Smith: Federal experience as former Assistant United States Attorney for the Northern District of Texas. Headed U.S. Attorney’s Organized Crime Task Force. Also, former Dallas County prosecutor.

· Michael J. Uhl: Federal experience as former Assistant U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Texas. Former Chief, U.S. Attorney’s Major White-Collar Fraud & Public Corruption Section. Former Dallas County Chief Felony Prosecutor.
