Teresa Schiller will be appointed as president of the New York Women’s Bar Association (NYWBA) for the 2006 – 2007 term at this evening’s annual dinner.
For the past two years, Ms. Schiller has served as vice president of the NYWBA and editor of the NYWBA newsletter. She has served on judicial screening committees and developed three citywide CLE seminars on rainmaking, expert deposition techniques, and fact interviewing techniques. She was named a New York Women’s Agenda “Galaxy Award Winner” in 2004 for her work in the NYWBA.
Ms. Schiller is the manager of pro bono and community programs for the U.S. Region at Clifford Chance US LLP. Formerly a senior litigation associate at the Firm, she now coordinates the firm’s pro bono efforts including staffing and advising on cases with multi-country legal teams, developing pro bono policies, and publicizing developments. She also litigates on behalf of the firm’s pro bono clients, including homeowners in a nuisance lawsuit relating to fireworks displays. In addition, Ms. Schiller develops numerous charitable projects for the Firm.
Ms. Schiller clerked for Judge Jane R. Roth of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit from 1998 to 1999 and for Judge Harry D. Leinenweber of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois from 1995 to 1996. She received her J.D. from the University of Chicago Law School and her B.A., cum laude, from Rice University.
The NYWBA, founded in 1935, is a non-profit organization devoted to improving the status of women in society, educating women lawyers and assisting them in professional development and advancement, and promoting the fair and equal administration of justice.
