LAWFUEL – Law News Network – International law firm Mayer, Brown, Rowe & Maw LLP has advised Allgemeine HypothekenBank Rheinboden AG (AHBR) on the sale of its European real estate financing business.
The loans portfolio has a total volume of €3.5 bil-lion. The buyer is Hypo Real Estate Bank International AG, a subsidiary of Hypo Real Estate Holding AG.
In total, through this sale, Hypo Real Estate is acquiring 140 commercial real estate financing positions in 13 European countries. The par-ties have agreed to keep the purchase price confidential.
Citigroup Global Markets Limited acted as intermediary for the transaction, which involved a competitive bidding process and is subject to approval by the German Federal Monopolies Commission. It is part of intensive restructuring at AHBR. In future, the bank will concentrate on commercial real estate financing in its core German market.
Also as part of the intensive restructuring at AHBR, Mayer, Brown, Rowe & Maw also recently acted as counsel to AHBR with regards to the sale of its US operations.
