Arnstein & Lehr Appoints Special Counsel to Chicago Office

CHICAGO, Illinois – March 24, 2014 – The law firm of Arnstein & Lehr LLP is excited to announce today that Erin M. Murphy has joined the firm’s Litigation Practice Group as special counsel in the Chicago office.

 

Prior to joining Arnstein & Lehr, Erin was principal at the Law Office of Erin M. Murphy, Ltd. in Chicago. Before opening her own law office, she was assistant corporation counsel for the city of Chicago’s Department of Law in its Building and License Enforcement/Municipal Prosecutions Division.

 

Erin’s first assignment with the city of Chicago, at the direction of the Commissioner of Buildings, was to lead an unprecedented prosecution of multi-building owner slum lords.  While with the city she also developed policies and protocols and was instrumental in initiating a court call pursuant to amendments of the Municipal Code of Chicago in which mortgagees can be held accountable for code violations at vacant or abandoned properties. In addition to the Department of Buildings, Erin prosecuted complaints for the Fire Prevention Bureau and the Department of Health. She also defended administrative appeals and initiated criminal complaints for failure to obey an administrative order.

 

Erin previously served as the corporate legal supervisor for McDonald’s Corporation in its Major Litigation Group.

 

Erin earned her J.D. in 2002 from The John Marshall Law School, where she served as the Executive Justice on the Moot Court Board.  She received a  B.A. from Mundelein College of Loyola University in Business Administration and Management and achieved paralegal certification from Roosevelt University. 

Erin focuses her practice on distressed property issues, code violations and compliance, risk mitigation and dispute resolution, civil and commercial litigation, and administrative law and appeals.
