ATLANTA, Aug. 11, 2004 Legal news, law news, law firm news & research at LAWFUEL Powell, Goldstein, Frazer & Murphy LLP has hired James S. Usher as Chief Information Officer. Most recently, Mr. Usher was the Information Technology Director for the law firm of King & Spalding in Atlanta, GA where he directed aspects of that firm's technology infrastructure across diverse business units and geographic locations. Charles Vann, Chief Operating Officer, commented, "The Firm was seeking a technology officer who could play a key role in providing Powell Goldstein with the technology needed to serve our clients more effectively. We view the use of technology as a differentiator in the marketplace and as leverage to contain costs and improve services, and Jamie has the keen sense and experience to help us achieve that goal very quickly. With the Firm's relocation of both its offices this year, Jamie will play a key role in implementation of our cutting edge systems." James Usher will direct the Firm's Technology Department and all of the outsourced help desk and other IT functions in both the Atlanta and Washington, DC offices. He oversees network operations, intra-and extranet applications, the Firm's web site development and maintenance, the help desk and works closely with the other departments of the Firm to improve processes and enhance service delivery. He will also be assisting the Firm in the relocation to One Atlantic Center in Atlanta and 901 New York Avenue in Washington later this year. He is a graduate of Georgia Tech where he received his B. S. in Electrical Engineering.
