ATLANTA (May 3) – LAWFUEL – The Law Newswire – Kilpatrick Stockton and Kennesaw State University recently hosted the Nankai University EMBA delegates at Kilpatrick Stockton’s Atlanta office. The 27 EMBA delegates from Nankai University embodied a diverse group of Chinese corporations including senior executives representing manufacturing, construction, pharmaceutical, and banking industries among others.
The delegates participated in a discussion concerning legal issues Chinese companies need to consider when conducting business in the U.S. Those presenting included presentations by the co-chairs of Kilpatrick’s Asia Business Services team, Wayne Elowe, Kilpatrick Stockton Partner in the Corporate Department and Chris Woods, Kilpatrick Stockton Partner in the Intellectual Property Department. Robert Banta, Managing Partner of Banta Immigration Law Ltd. also presented to the group.
Topics discussed included:
• considerations for market entry in the U.S.,
• product liability
• risk management
• patents, trademarks, copyrights and trade secrets; and
• immigration planning
Following the presentations a reception was held for the delegates to continue their discussions in more detail and to network with other Atlanta-based companies and clients.
As part of Kilpatrick’s significant growth working with U.S. clients doing business in China and Chinese clients doing business in the U.S., the Nankai business delegation meeting is one of a series of similar meetings focused on introducing and creating opportunities for greater interaction between U.S. and Chinese businesses.
Earlier this year, Kilpatrick Stockton hosted a Chinese delegation representing top law school schools across China.
