ATLANTA Nov. 1 2004 LAWFUEL – Law firm, attorney, legal news – Kilpatrick Stockton today announced that Partner David Zacks was awarded the Wake Forest University Distinguished Alumni Award for his exemplary service and leadership in the community, reflecting the University motto, “Pro Humanitate.” This award is presented each year to an alumnus, whose achievements and recognition have reflected honor in their alma mater.

“David Zacks is an outstanding ambassador of Wake Forest University and its motto of “service to humanity” through his professional accomplishment and his personal devotion to the well-being of others,” said Sandra C. Boyette, Vice President for University Advancement, Wake Forrest. “His tireless devotion to the work of the American Cancer Society, including a term as national chair, along with his service on the Geneva-based Council of the International Union Against Cancer, is a source of great pride to his fellow alumni and an inspiration to future generations of Wake Foresters.”

Active in the American Cancer Society, Mr. Zacks is Immediate-Past Chairman of the Board and is a certified Hospice volunteer. He was a past President of the Legal Clinic for the Homeless in Atlanta and recipient of the Palmer Ansley Leadership Award from the Atlanta Bar Association. He has also served on the Executive Board of University Hospital Health Care Foundation as well as being a Trustee of Leadership Georgia.

Mr. Zacks received his B.A. and J.D. with honors from Wake Forest University. He then served in the Judge Advocate General’s Corps of the United States Army from 1967 until 1971. He was appointed special defense counsel in a My Lai related trial and was certified as a military judge. He is a member of the Georgia and North Carolina Bar Associations.
