Austin, May 24, 2007 –Gov. Rick Perry appointed Austin shareholder John A. Menchaca II, along with three other members to the One-Call Board with terms to expire August 31, 2009. The board has authority over “Call Before You Dig” systems that notify underground facility operators of excavation plans so pipelines and utility lines can be marked to prevent accidents. Other appointees included Dean D. Bernal of Austin, Billy Ray Daugette, Jr. of Huntsville, and Christopher J. Rourk of Dallas.

Menchaca is a corporate attorney with Texas law firm Winstead PC. His primary areas of practice are securities and corporate finance, with an emphasis on venture capital and private equity transactions, mergers and acquisitions, and general corporate matters. He is a member of the American and Travis County Bar Associations and currently serves on the board of directors for LifeWorks and the Neighborhood Longhorns. Menchaca is a founding board member of the Rise School of Austin and a 2006 graduate of Leadership Austin. He received his J.D. from the Oklahoma City University School of Law, graduating magna cum laude.
