Baker & McKenzie announced today that it advised Radisson Edwardian Hotels in its acquisition of the prestigious five star Intercontinental Mayfair Hotel, London, from Intercontinental Hotels Group. The acquisition has a value of £115 million.

This acquisition brings Radisson Edwardian Hotels Group’s total number of four and five star hotels in London to eleven. The Group’s portfolio includes the famous Berkshire Hotel, voted ‘Hotel of the Year 1989’ by The Caterer and Hotelkeeper, and the five-star Radisson Edwardian Heathrow Hotel, seven times winner of the Best Airport Hotel in the World and the Leading Conference Hotel in Europe, 2002.

The Mayfair Intercontinental Hotel is located on Stratton Street, Mayfair, London. It was opened in 1927 by King George V and has 290 rooms.

The Baker & McKenzie team was led by Hotels, Resorts and Tourism Group Partners Mark Henrick and Stephen Turner with assistance from many others, including Corporate Associates Robert Adam and Lisa Cooper, and Property Associates Kathryn England and Richard Hart.

Commenting on the transaction, Mark Henrick said: “We have acted for Edwardian for over 20 years and are delighted to have been asked to assist them again on this acquisition and to have met their exacting timetable. Our hotels practice has had a busy summer since this is our second major hotel transaction in as many months.”
