Baker & McKenzie Chicago Partner Ranked as an “All Star” by BTI Consulting Group

Chicago, October 22, 2007 – LAWFUEL – The Law Firm Newswire – Baker & McKenzie LLP announced today that Partner David Malliband was named a BTI Transactions All-Star. He is one of 86 attorneys nominated worldwide that the BTI study recognizes for their “unparalleled delivery of client service in corporate transactions.”

In order to be named an All Star, BTI surveyed more than 180 corporate counsel at large and Fortune 1000 companies asking them which attorneys stand out as providing the absolute best client service. Malliband was selected by name as one of these individuals who provides excellent and well-rounded client relationship service dealing with complex M&A transactions. His effective communication skills and knowledge of the client’s business and industry were key factors in his selection.

“Complex cross border M&A transactions, which usually involve numerous legal, cultural and logistical issues, can be quite a challenge,” said Philip Suse, Managing Partner of Baker & McKenzie in Chicago. “The Firm earlier this year received an award as one of the 8 Power Players by BTI, as a law firm leading the transactions market, due largely to the Firm’s international presence, depth and strongly established client relationships. So the news that David was also singled out for client service in the corporate transactions market by BTI builds on this recognition – and particularly as it stems from the clients we work on with these transactions – is quite an honor and very gratifying.”

Starting his legal career in Australia, Malliband has worked in Baker & McKenzie’s Sydney, London and Chicago offices. His primary practice area is Corporate & Securities with a focus on mergers, acquisitions and joint ventures (with an emphasis on cross-border transactions), and the representation of domestic and non-US companies in their activities in the United States, Europe and the Asia-Pacific region.

He graduated with a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Queensland, Australia in 1991 and received an LL.B. (J.D. equivalent) with honors in 1993. Malliband received an LL.M. with honors from Northwestern University in 2000 (Dean’s List). He is admitted to practice in each of Illinois and New York (USA), England and Wales, and New South Wales (Australia).
