Birmingham – 23 September – LAWFUEL – The Law News Network – Karen Macpherson, partner and head of a team in the Human Resource practice at Eversheds is to leave the firm after six years to join DLA Piper Rudnick Gray Cary (“DLA Piper”).

Karen specialises in non-contentious matters and has particular expertise in TUPE; she currently leads the international team and works with overseas colleagues, particularly in the US, to advise on cross-border matters such as restructuring exercises, contract reviews, workforce strategy and general employment relations advice. In addition, Karen advices on corporate governance, insolvency issues, restrictive covenants, service agreements and day to day employment advice along with employment tribunal matters.

Amongst Karen’s clients are multi-national corporations in the IT and telecoms sector and interesting cases include advising on the global workforce strategy of an airline; advising on the employment issues relating to the MG Rover administration and negotiating global outsource deals.

From 1988 to 1990, Karen trained at Linklaters and was a solicitor in the employment and benefits team until 1993. She then moved to IBM for five years where she was the sole in-house employment lawyer, working with the HR team and the in-house legal department. In 1999, she joined Eversheds as an associate and became a partner in 2001.
