Arizona Man Sentenced For Stabbing During Birthday Party

PHOENIX (LAWFUEL) – Gregory Young, Jr., 37, of the Gila River Indian Community, Ariz., was sentenced today by U.S. District Judge Roslyn O. Silver to 10 years in federal prison for stabbing a family member during a birthday party. Young was found guilty by a federal jury on May 7, 2008, of Assault Resulting in Serious Bodily Injury. On February 17, 2007, during a birthday party held on the Gila River Indian Community, Young stabbed a male family member below his rib cage leaving a large wound. The victim was air-evacuated to a hospital in Phoenix where it was determined that the victim’s colon had been perforated. The investigation in this case was conducted by the Gila River Indian Community Police Department.
