Bankruptcy Lawyer Joins Locke Lord

(NEW YORK) September 17, 2014 – Daniel Lubell, who has built an extensive legal practice representing clients in all aspects of major bankruptcy and financial restructuring matters, has joined Locke Lord today as a Partner in the Firm’s New York Office and its Firm-wide Bankruptcy, Restructuring & Insolvency Group.

Lubell’s practice focuses on creditors’ rights and corporate reorganizations, including asset sales, plan negotiations, cross-border insolvency issues and complex bankruptcy court litigation. He has represented clients, including debtors, creditors and investors in Chapter 11 cases, out-of-court restructurings and other proceedings. He has extensive litigation experience, having both prosecuted and defended fraudulent transfer, non-discharge and other bankruptcy litigation.

Lubell’s significant recent representations include:

· The Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation as lead outside counsel in prominent U.S. District Court litigations

· The Canadian receiver in the M&A Advisor’s 2014 “Cross-Border Restructuring Deal of the Year”

· A leading financial institution in Chapter 11 restructuring cases in the energy industry

· Committees of retirees in several cross-border insolvency cases

Prior to joining Locke Lord, Lubell was a partner at Hughes Hubbard & Reed LLP. He earned his law degree (magna cum laude) from Boston University School of Law, where he was an editor of the Law Review. He completed his undergraduate studies at UCLA, where he graduated cum laude.
