DALLAS – LAWFUEL - The Law News Network - Shackelford, Melton & McKinley, LLP, is pleased to announce that two seasoned attorneys are joining the Dallas firm. Leland C. de la Garza and Andrew L. Siegel will bring added strength to the firm’s practice of commercial law. “We’re extremely happy to welcome Leland and Andy to our firm,” said Managing Partner John Shackelford. “They’re both fine lawyers, who will bring added depth and talent to what we feel is a strong legal team.” For the past 16 years, Mr. de la Garza has served clients through his own business litigation practice. Before that, he was with the Dallas firm of Goins, Underkofler, Crawford and Langdon. Mr. de la Garza received a law degree from the Dedman School of Law at Southern Methodist University. He holds undergraduate degrees, in business finance and political science, from Southern Methodist University as well. In 2005, the Texas Supreme Court appointed Mr. de la Garza to Texas’ Unauthorized Practice of Law Committee. In a 2003 poll conducted by Texas Monthly magazine, Mr. de la Garza was honored as a Texas Super Lawyer, a distinction bestowed on only five percent of Texas lawyers, after being nominated and voted on by their peers. Andrew L. Siegel has been in private practice for 18 years, the last two at a firm he founded. Mr. Siegel was also a partner at Patton Boggs, and previous to that, an associate in the Dallas office of Hughes & Luce LLP. Mr. Siegel is an accomplished business litigator who has represented major clients in the hospitality, restaurant, and retail industries. Internationally, he has also served clients in businesses involving construction, engineering and energy production. Mr. Siegel holds a law degree from the University of Texas, where he was a Keeton fellow. He also studied law at Oxford University. From 1994 to 1996, he served as chairman of the Public Affairs and Education Committee of the State Bar of Texas.
