New York, May 12, 2005 – LAWFUEL – The Law News Network – Dewey Ballantine LLP, an international law firm, announced today that it has been selected as the top legal advisor in Central and Eastern Europe for 2005 by Global Finance magazine. Global
Finance annually recognizes the “World’s Best Investment Banks” and this
year for this first time introduced awards for the best law firms in six
 regions and globally.
The legal advisors recognized by Global Finance are those firms judged to
be the best-qualified advisors on mergers and acquisitions as well as
capital markets transactions. Dewey Ballantine’s reputation as the best
business law firm in Poland, and its particular skills in corporate M&A
were noted by the Global Finance editors, but the award was based primarily
on the firm’s overall performance and reputation in Central and Eastern
Europe (CEE). Global Finance noted that they were particularly impressed
with Dewey Ballantine’s role as legal advisor to Central European Media
Enterprises Ltd. in its $630 million acquisition of TV Nova in the Czech
 Republic.
Stephen Horvath, a partner in the firm’s London office who led the team
working on the TV Nova deal, said, “It is a tremendous honor to receive
this award from Global Finance in recognition of our client work throughout
Central and Eastern Europe. We have a long history of success in landmark
acquisition and finance transactions in the CEE emerging markets, and we
put that experience to work for our clients every day.”
“Naturally, taking care of the needs of our clients is our primary
mission,” commented Lejb Fogelman, the firm’s Central European Senior
Partner, “but we are pleased that the firm has been recognized as the
leading law firm in Poland, and to have Global Finance commend our regional
 expertise.”
“We’ve been fortunate to work on innovative, complex transactions which
best utilize our capabilities across our practices and our European and
U.S. offices,” added Jaroslaw Grzesiak, managing partner of Dewey
Ballantine’s Warsaw office. “This award acknowledges our hard work in this
 region.”
