Nixon Peabody LLP announced that it is expanding its securitization and structured finance practice with the addition of Marc J. Veilleux, who has joined the firm as partner in the New York City office to become the head of the firm’s Securitization and Structured Finance Group. Mr. Veilleux joins from the Securitization and Derivatives Group of Shearman & Sterling where over the past five years he has deepened his structured finance expertise by representing well known underwriters, sponsors, investors and liquidity providers on a wide range of sophisticated structured transactions, including cross-border and domestic receivables securitization programs, structured product offerings and collateralized debt obligations. Mr. Veilleux also has many years of experience in traditional asset securitization classes, including commercial and residential mortgages and credit card receivables, having served as Vice President in the securities and funding unit of Citibank, and prior to that having been associated with Milbank Tweed Hadley & McCloy and Thacher Proffitt & Wood. Mr. Veilleux will lead the expansion of Nixon Peabody’s already significant practice in this field, including securitizations of credit card and equipment lease receivables, collateralized debt obligations, commercial and residential mortgages, real estate tax receivables and energy power contracts, and he will capitalize on the firm’s preeminent position as underwriters’ counsel in tobacco settlement securitizations.
