BOCA RATON, FL—November 1, 2006— LAWFUEL – Law News, Law Jobs – Al Arent, Arent Fox’s guiding force for many years, passed away peacefully in his sleep October 31, 2006, with his children at his side.

“There is no way to adequately describe Al or to fully describe the debt that we all owe him,” remarked Arent Fox Chairman Marc Fleischaker. “He had a vision of this law firm that he was able to implement as well as a vision of our role in the community – a vision that has enabled us to be unparalleled in our pro bono efforts and our commitment to the public. He had an integrity that I am confident is reflected in the work we do and the ethic that we have today.”

Albert E. Arent joined the firm in 1944 and was actively involved in the business community and local charitable affairs. He founded Arent Fox’s tax and real estate practice and was the initial guiding force behind the firm’s pro bono work. The firm’s award for outstanding pro bono work is named in his honor.

There will be no immediate funeral service. A memorial service will be held in Washington, DC, in March.
