Cal-Trans Workers Looking for Loose Change Gets Run Down

September 10, 2009 (by Horatio Algren) According to reports two people were struck while working on the roadside by driver looking for change while driving. It has been reported that at approximately 10:30 a.m. a Caltrans crew of five that included three probationary workers were on the I-15 north. The accident occurred in the vicinity of state route 94 and the Interstate 805 Interchange when a woman driving an Infiniti struck one Caltrans employee and one probationary worker that were on a cleanup detail according to the California Highway Patrol.

The Infinity struck a Caltrans van and then struck the two injuring them and it has been reported that the severe injuries sustained were life threatening. According to the California Highway Patrol the female driver was traveling in the slow lane and was digging for change when she lost control of the Infinity she was driving striking the Caltrans van and then the Caltrans employee and the probationary worker. The crash was severe enough that the Infinity had extensive damage including a left wheel that came off of the vehicle, a broken axle, the windshield was broken out during the crash and there was also damage to the vehicles roof and hood.
The woman driving the Infinity at the time of the crash was transported to the hospital with injuries and her condition has not been reported.
