Chair of Commercial Litigation Practice at Pepper Hamilton Elected President of Philadelphia Bar Foundation

Philadelphia, Pa. (LAWFUEL) – February 11, 2009 – The Philadelphia Bar Foundation announced that Amy B. Ginensky, a partner with Pepper Hamilton LLP and chair of its Commercial Litigation Practice Group, has begun to serve her two-year term as President of the Foundation.

The Philadelphia Bar Foundation is dedicated to promoting access to justice for all people in the community, particularly those struggling with poverty, abuse and discrimination. It provides financial support through grants to public interest legal services organizations that assist those in need; those grants totaled $558,000 in 2008, and were distributed among 31 organizations.

In a recent column in the Philadelphia Bar Reporter, Ms. Ginensky recognized the challenges the Foundation faces in 2009 and asked for the support of the legal community.

With the economy being weak and the organizations that rely on the Foundation’s grants needing financial support more than ever, Ms. Ginensky said, “We must remember those who need us, and be there for them, whatever it requires. And, by doing so, we will not merely enrich others, we will enrich ourselves. We have an opportunity to be more charitable, and more giving, than we thought possible or have even been in the past, because it is needed that much more.”

Ms. Ginensky co-chaired the Philadelphia Bar Association’s Law Firm Pro Bono Committee for many years; she also chaired her former law firm’s pro bono program. In addition, she co-chaired the Andrew Hamilton Ball, the primary fundraiser for the Philadelphia Bar Foundation, in 2006 and 2007.

Ms. Ginensky practices in Pepper Hamilton’s Philadelphia office. In addition to handling class action and commercial litigation matters, she has an active media and communications practice that focuses on First Amendment, defamation and other media-related areas. She is a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers.
