Continuing Project Safe Neighborhood Effort

SAN FRANCISCO – LAWFUEL – Press Release Service – United States Attorney Kevin V. Ryan announced that, as part of the Project Safe Neighborhood initiative, three individuals: Aaron Wiley, Renell Dudley, and Arnold Ringgold, were recently sentenced in federal court for possessing firearms as felons.

On July 28, 2006, Arnold Ringgold, 25, of Richmond, California, was sentenced to a term of 92 months jail after his plea of guilty to possessing a Strum Ruger 9 millimeter semi-automatic pistol on October 20, 2005, in Richmond, California, as a felon.

On July 20, 2006, Renell Dudley, 26, of Martinez, California, was sentenced to a term of 75 months imprisonment after his plea of guilty to possessing a Glock Model 35, semi-automatic pistol on November 12, 2005, in North Richmond, California, as a felon.

On July 6, 2006, Aaron Wiley, 34, of Hercules, California, was sentenced to a term of 77 months jail after his plea of guilty to possessing a .45 caliber Glock semi-automatic pistol on November 8, 2005, in North Richmond, California, as a felon.

U.S. Attorney Kevin V. Ryan stated, “These sentences are an example of our continuing effort to reduce gun-related violence by cracking down on convicted felons who illegally possess firearms or ammunition. We will continue to work closely with our partners at the ATF and local police and sheriff departments to take dangerous criminals off the streets.”

The sentences are the result of investigations led by Special Agents of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, with the assistance the Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Office and the Richmond Police Department.

James Keller and Garth Hire are the Assistant U.S. Attorneys who prosecuted the cases.
