Debevoise Names Two New International Counsel

New York – February 1, 2012 – Debevoise & Plimpton LLP is pleased to announce that Sally Gibson and Matthew J. Griffin, both members of the firm’s investment funds practice and based in its London office, have been named International Counsel to the firm, effective February 1, 2012.

Sally Gibson is a member of the Corporate Department. Her practice focuses on advising fund sponsors on private equity, hedge and other investment funds, including listed funds. Ms. Gibson also advises on the restructuring of investment managers and investment advisers, the acquisition of fund management groups and on the regulatory issues affecting the private equity and fund management sectors. Prior to joining the firm in February 2008, Ms. Gibson worked in the investment funds practice of Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer LLP. Ms. Gibson has also worked for the Australian law firm, Mallesons Stephen Jaques, in its financial services group. She received a Master of Law (First Class Honours) from the University of Cambridge in 2004 and a Bachelor of Economics and a Bachelor of Laws (First Class Honours) from the University of Sydney, Australia in 2001.

Matthew J. Griffin is a member of the Corporate Department. He advises clients on transactions involving primary and secondary purchases of fund interests, co-investment arrangements, fund restructurings, and private equity and other corporate transactions. Prior to joining the firm in January 2008, Mr. Griffin worked in the investment funds practice of Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer LLP and before that in the private equity practice of the Australian law firm, Gilbert + Tobin. He received a Bachelor of Laws (First Class Honours) from the University of Sydney in 1999 and a Bachelor Degree in Economics (double major in finance and actuarial science) from Macquarie University in 1992.
