Dentons adds IP and IT strength to its Melbourne team

Dentons has expanded its offering in Australia with partner Robyn Chatwood bringing her intellectual property expertise to the Melbourne office.

Relocating from Dentons’ London office, Robyn brings a wealth of experience in both IP and IT, across franchising and distribution, commercial contracts and concession agreements, information technology and communications law, e-commerce law, data protection/privacy and all forms of new technology and IP such as artificial intelligence, payment platforms and crypto currencies, augmented reality and virtual reality.

Robyn also has a specialty in international licensing, particularly in the retail, hospitality and healthcare sectors.

Acting for a broad range of clients from multinational corporations and public authorities to start ups, Robyn has assisted clients in over 50 countries, including many emerging markets, in both contentious and non-contentious matters.

Robyn also has extensive commercial experience, having worked for more than 10 years as an executive in the oil industry, including managing franchises, before commencing as a lawyer. This commercial experience benefits clients who come to Robyn for her pragmatic approach to the law.

Dentons’ Chief Executive Officer, Australia, Ian Dardis, said that Robyn would add significant capability to the Australian team.

“We’ve been looking to expand our IP and IT offering in Australia and Robyn’s diverse, international experience completely fits the bill. Her expertise and focus on the hotel, retail, and healthcare sectors, growth areas for the Australian practice, are also welcome. Being able to relocate someone who is already a part of the Dentons family and is familiar with both our clients and our offering is an added benefit.”
