DLA Group member, GÖRG Rechtsanwälte, has hired three partners and a team of lawyers for its newly established Hamburg office. Dr. Klaus von Gierke (Corporate and M&A), Volker Alvensleben (Employment) and Dr. Frank Weberndörfer (Employment), currently partners at German law firm, Luther Menold, will join GÖRG Rechtsanwälte’s new Hamburg office with effect from 1 January 2004.

A number of associates and support staff will accompany them.
Dr. Ulrich Jüngst, managing partner of GÖRG Rechtsanwälte, said: “We are delighted to welcome such highly experienced partners and associates to our new Hamburg office. GÖRG is rapidly expanding in Germany and having a presence in Hamburg will enhance the service that we can provide both to our German clients and on an international level.”

Nigel Knowles, managing partner of DLA, said: “This is great news for GÖRG and the DLA Group. Hamburg is an important business centre and this latest move will further strengthen DLA Group’s presence in the important German legal market.”

The news was also welcomed by other members of DLA Group, including Henning Øglænd, managing partner of Lindh Stabell Horten, who said: “Having an office in Hamburg is important for us in view of its proximity to Scandinavia and we hope to build on the good relationship that we have with GÖRG going forward.”

This latest development follows the appointment of three partners to GÖRG’s Frankfurt office in July this year. GÖRG, which was founded in 1995, also has offices in Berlin, Cologne and Essen. In only a few years, the firm has developed an enviable reputation in the German market, and in recent months has become particularly known for its work on high profile insolvency and reorganisations including the Kirch-Group and Babcock AG.
