DLA is once again demonstrating its continued investment in its Real Estate group with the latest hire of two property partners.
Peter Taylor, is a partner and specialist planning lawyer from regional firm Hewitsons, where he was former head of property. During his 17 years at Hewitsons he was a member of the firm’s finance committee and management board. Peter acts for numerous local authorities and developers as well as corporate occupiers. As a member of the Law Society’s specialist planning panel for 10 years, his expertise covers the whole ambit of development proposals including strategic planning advice, planning agreements, representation at planning inquiries (including advocacy) and in the high court.
Peter will be the partner in charge of the planning at the Birmingham office of DLA.

Alex Jones joins from Pinsents and specialises in property development and property finance. He has particular expertise in the property development aspects of PFI work and in the hotel, leisure and healthcare sectors. He has worked at Pinsents for seven years, the last three of them as a partner.
He has acted on behalf of Castlemore Securities, Lingfield plc, Mowlem plc, Radisson Hotels and MGM Casinos, as well as hospitals, healthcare providers and local authorities. Transactions have included Crossley Retail Park in Kidderminster, Tempus 10, Worcester Royal Infirmary new hospital, Coventry Arena football stadium and the anticipated new MGM casino at Olympia 2.
Alex will assist Adrian Watson, head of Real Estate in Birmingham, in boosting DLA’s property development profile in addition to building the firm’s business in the hotel, leisure and healthcare sectors.

Peter and Alex will both join the Birmingham office of DLA.
The latest hires follow-on from the appointment of David Taylor, from Herbert Smith, to head up the Real Estate group nationally. David will take over from Philip Rooney who will concentrate on client facing activity following six successful years as Head of Real Estate.
