DLA Piper’s Michelle Dickinson Honored with Champion of Justice Award

(Baltimore)LawFuel.com – April 20, 2010 – DLA Piper announced today that Michelle Dickinson will receive a Champion of Justice Award from the Maryland Legal Aid Bureau’s Equal Justice Council (EJC). The award will be presented at the EJC’s 13th annual awards and recognition breakfast on May 20 at the Camden Yards in Baltimore. Dickinson is a partner in DLA Piper’s Litigation practice in the Baltimore office.

Dickinson was recognized for her outstanding leadership and sustaining efforts in support of Legal Aid. Working with several attorneys in DLA Piper’s Baltimore office, she has served as the firm’s representative to EJC for the past two years. Kelly Tubman Hardy, partner in DLA Piper’s Corporate practice, and Deke Miller, Partner Emeritus, are also active members of the Equal Justice Council.

EJC was formed to promote equal justice by increasing and diversifying the Legal Aid Bureau’s resources, serving as its advocates and ambassadors, and educating the public about Legal Aid’s programs. Dickinson ran the internal fundraising campaign for Legal Aid and managed efforts to secure contributions from firms throughout the state of Maryland.

“We are delighted that Michelle is being recognized for her extraordinary commitment to the EJC and the Maryland community,” said Paul Tiburzi, managing partner of DLA Piper’s Baltimore office. “Michelle’s fundraising efforts will assist Legal Aid in its important mission of providing free legal services to the low-income residents of Maryland, and we congratulate her on this tremendous honor.”

At DLA Piper, Dickinson concentrates her practice on business and commercial litigation, with a focus on complex commercial disputes and product liability. She has litigated matters involving securities, subprime mortgages, manufacturing agreements, long-term incentive plans, and restrictive covenants in employment agreements and real property deeds; and claims of breach of warranty, breach of fiduciary duty, fraud, consumer protection violations, sexual harassment, negligence and breach of contract.
