15 April 2010 – On April 1, 2010, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) jointly established new federal rules setting the first national greenhouse gas emissions standards and new national standards for fuel economy of all new passenger cars and light trucks sold in the United States.
