Education – Coaching For College Announces Annual Sarah Rosen Student Of The Year Award

Washington D.C. (September 24) – Coaching for College, a Washington, D.C. nonprofit that offers weekly, personalized one-on-one academic tutoring and mentoring to underserved public school students in the District of Columbia, announced today that middle school student Katisha Fredrick was the recipient of the Second Annual Sarah Rosen Student of the Year Award.

Coaching for College established the Sarah Rosen Student of the Year Award as a tribute to one of the organization’s most committed volunteers, Sarah Rosen, after her untimely death.

“Katisha embodies the spirit of the award, which is honoring the unique qualities that made Sarah special: kindness, compassion, motivation and a commitment to helping others,” said Mark Bayer, founder of Coaching for College. “We know Katisha will continue to succeed in the classroom and in life.”

This year, Coaching for College, along with Sarah’s family, who generously support the award, presented Katisha with a $500 U.S. Savings Bond and $100 check as the second Sarah Rosen award winner.

Kilpatrick Stockton partner Stephen Baskin, who was recently selected to serve on the organization’s Board of Directors, also participated in the presentation. Sarah Rosen’s commitment to the organization and the students it serves inspired the firm’s involvement and support.
