Five Years’ Prison For Bronx Man Who Distributed Child Pornography – US Law Newswire Service

DASSIN, the Acting United States Attorney forthe Southern District of New York, announced that HAROLD LEECHANG YEN, 37, was sentenced today in Manhattan federal court to5 years in prison and lifetime supervised release for receivingand distributing child pornography. The sentence was imposed byUnited States District Judge NAOMI REICE BUCHWALD.YEN, of the Bronx, was arrested on January 11, 2007, byspecial agents of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (“FBI”),and has remained detained since his arrest.

According to thecharges, court papers, and statements made by YEN during hisguilty plea to Count One of the Indictment against him, YEN hadcollected child pornography since the late 1990s. YEN used Peer-to-Peer software to obtain and share child pornography over theInternet, and also stored child pornography on a collection ofapproximately 100 CDs and DVDs which were seized by FBI Agentsduring a search of YEN’s apartment. This case reflects the enforcement goals of ProjectSafe Childhood, a nationwide initiative to coordinate federal,state, and local law enforcement resources to investigate andprosecute child exploitation cases and rescue the victims ofthose crimes.Mr. DASSIN praised the work of the FBI investigatingthis case.
